 "Bhool Bhulaiyaa"

is a Hindi psychological thriller-comedy film released in 2007, directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Bhushan Kumar. The movie is a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film "Manichitrathazhu." It features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav.

The story revolves around a joint family living in a palatial mansion in rural Rajasthan. Siddharth (Shiney Ahuja) and Avni (Vidya Balan) are a happily married couple who decide to move into the ancestral house despite being warned about its haunted reputation.

Soon after their arrival, strange and unexplained incidents start occurring in the house. Siddharth's cousin, Aditya (Akshay Kumar), is a psychiatrist who is called to investigate the situation. Aditya is a non-believer in supernatural occurrences and dismisses the idea of a haunting. Instead, he attributes the strange events to psychological conditions.

As Aditya delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers that the mansion has a dark past. Legend has it that the spirit of a dancer named Manjulika haunts the premises. She was in love with a royal family member, Shashidhar, who betrayed her and caused her death. Manjulika's vengeful spirit seeks revenge against those who wronged her.

Aditya starts treating Avni's cousin, Radha (Ameesha Patel), who exhibits signs of possession by Manjulika's spirit. He tries to unlock the mystery and find a solution to save the family from the ghostly wrath. As the suspense unfolds, Aditya uncovers a shocking twist and must race against time to unravel the truth before tragedy strikes.

The film combines elements of horror, comedy, and suspense, keeping the audience engaged throughout. It explores themes of superstition, psychology, and the power of the human mind. "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" received critical acclaim for its performances, engaging storyline, and effective blend of genres.
